Give yourself or another nature lover the ability to help butterflies and songbirds by planting any of our selections of Kentucky native flowers. These selections include locally grown wildflowers that are native to Kentucky, and among the best plants to provide places for butterflies and other pollinators to lay eggs, feed young caterpillars, and feed adult butterflies. In turn, those caterpillars will become food for songbird babies, then the seeds created by the flowers will also feed songbirds later in the season.
The value of this gift may not be seen its initial presentation (in a brown paper bag that you can recycle or compost), but will definitely be seen in its effect on pollinators and songbirds once the flowers are planted and established!
Your bag (we lightheartedly refer to it as a "bag o' butterflies!) will be filled with Pemberton's choice of native Kentucky flowering plants for sun, with species depending on availability and season (some may be small and others already tall and lanky when you receive them; some are just coming out of dormancy, so it's a perfect time to plant them). All are highly beneficial and have not had pesticides used on them. In fact, you may even find a bonus caterpillar or two on your plants! DO expect to find other insects nibbling on your plants, but don't worry -- just relax and let nature do its thing!
