Celebrate Lexington's world-renowned beauty & iconic landscapes while commemorating our city's 250th birthday this year:
Plant Lexington's official tree and official flower in your yard!
This milestone event deserves a legacy that grows!
In the world of trees, there are none better than oaks, and within the oak world, at the top of the list are Bur Oaks.
Bur Oaks are the official trees of Lexington, Kentucky

Take this opportunity during this year of celebrating Lexington's 250th birthday, to plant a native Kentucky Bur Oak tree, the official tree of Lexington, grown in central Kentucky from locally sourced acorns.

If you want to give a Bur Oak as a gift, we can dress it up* and deliver** it in Fayette and contiguous counties.
Our trees are in 2-gallon pots so they're very easy to transport, easy to plant, easy to maintain, and easy on your budget.
In addition to being very handsome trees, Oaks become big trees with big influence and long lives. They are strong, disease-resistant, and the best trees for pollinators and wildlife, each capable of supporting hundreds of species.

You can choose from our other beautiful Kentucky native tree species such as Chinquapin Oak, Pecan, Scarlet Oak, Sycamore, and Shumard Oak. In 1-gallon pots choose from Red Mulberry, White Pine, Serviceberry, Hackberry, Catalpa, and others.
2-gallon Bur Oak trees: $42*. Larger sizes are also available from our growers.
*Dressed-up trees are wrapped in burlap with a colorful burlap bow for $12 extra. If you'd like to add a bag of Espoma BioTone Starter Plus to help your tree's roots establish quickly, please add $10.
**Delivery in Fayette County is $35. Please call for prices on delivery to contiguous counties or beyond.

Another way to commemorate the 250th birthday of Lexington, Kentucky is to plant this popular, wonderful Kentucky native wildflower, Echinacea purpurea or Purple Coneflower.

It was named the official flower after input from horticulturists, garden clubs, city government officials, gardeners, horticulturists, landscapers, garden centers, community members, and finally a public poll.

Purple Coneflower is great for pollinators, has a long bloom period, and its seeds are loved by songbirds.
We also have its beautiful Kentucky cousins: Echinacea pallida or Pale Purple Coneflower, and Echinacea simulata or Glade Coneflower available.

These beloved Kentucky native flowers will be happy in your yard as long as they get plenty of sun and live in well-draining soil.
Available 4" pots, $12.50.
